Colter's Run

John Colter was a member of the Lewis & Clark Expedition as a hunter and scout. After the expedition, he stayed in the Yellowstone region trapping beaver. In 1809, while hunting, Colter and his partner, John Potts, ran into several hundred Blackfoot Indians. Potts was killed. Colter was stripped naked, told to run, and pursued by a large pack of young braves. A fast runner, after 5 miles, Colter was far ahead of the pack, with only one Indian still close to him, just twenty yards behind. He suddenly stopped, turned around, and spread out his arms. The Indian, surprised but exhausted with running, fell throwing his spear breaking it in his hand. Colter snatched up the pointed part and killed the Indian, stealing his blanket before continuing to flee. He reached the river and hid inside a beaver lodge, escaping capture. Emerging at night he climbed and walked for eleven days to a trader's fort on the Little Big Horn.

Excellent Bourbon
A good friend gave me a bottle for my birthday. I found the bourbon to taste great. It has a nice hint of oaky smoke taste to me and very smooth. I will certainly buy my own now!!!! I collect good bourbon and i have now added Colter’s Run to my list!

Visited distillery for tour
Had a great time at the tour and the tasting room. Had to take some "samples" home. Need distribution here in Kansas or at least closer that St Louis. The town of Driggs Idaho is an interesting little town where we stayed for our week at Yellowstone and Grand Teton. Don't miss this jewel!
